Freemasons build up funds for hospice

1 February 2008

Freemasons from the Acacia Lodge based in Baildon this week donated £500 to Sue Ryder Care - Manorlands Hospice.

Worshipful Master of the Lodge Mr Craig Reynolds presented the donation to Staff Nurse Lizzie Proctor at the Oxenhope based hospice. He explained that the decision to support the hospice with three recent fundraising raffles had been a joint decision by the members of the lodge who recognised the hospice as a worthy cause in the local community.

Andrew Wood, Fundraiser at the hospice which cares for over 640 people each year thanked Mr Reynolds and his fellow members. "The hospice needs £1.9 million each year to cover the cost of its services and we depend on the generosity of groups such as the Freemasons to help us reach that target."
