Suffolk Care Centre Hosts Open Day

30 September 2009

Sue Ryder Care – The Chantry, in Ipswich, is hosting an open day (on Thursday, 8 October from 9.30am to 6pm) to showcase the range of services the care centre offers to support people living with long term conditions including; multiple sclerosis, dementia, acquired brain injury and stroke.

The team at the care centre is encouraging everybody who has an interest in learning more about the services provided at Sue Ryder Care – The Chantry to come along including; people affected by a neurological condition, whether directly or knows somebody who is, health and social care professionals including charitable and independent providers and anybody interested in working at the care centre.

The free to attend event is being held at Sue Ryder Care – The Chantry in Chantry Park on Hadleigh Road.  Throughout the day a range of staff at the care centre will be on hand to talk about the health and social care services provided at the care centre including; the soon to be launched dementia day care service and established services such as 5Rs service which supports people living with MS to live as independently as possible for as long as possible, the day care, supported living, respite care and residential care for people living with progressive neurological conditions.  The fundraising team will also be available to talk to people about how they can support the care centre by raising vital funds.

Jo Marshall, care centre manager at Sue Ryder Care – The Chantry, said: “It is increasingly important for everybody working with people with physical disabilities, in our case those with neurological conditions, have an understanding of what the variety of providers do in our locality.  Consistent and open sharing of knowledge will support health and social care professionals to continue to improve and develop services and ensure people seeking help are signposted appropriately.

“We’d also like to encourage anybody who has an interest in finding out more about Sue Ryder Care – The Chantry, and how we can support them as well as how perhaps local people can support us, to come along.”
