BNI SYNERGY HAVE A CHALLENGE TO DONATE DON’T DUMP

27 October 2009

Local BNI Synergy chapter businessmen and women will be taking a leaf from ‘Mary Queen of charity shops’ book when they embark on a challenge to ‘donate don’t dump’ to a local charity.

The event will see each member of BNI Synergy try to fill a bag with clothes and other unwanted items for Sue Ryder Care charity shops. The twist in the challenge, however, will be that the donations have to be of good quality, rather than old or cheap items that have no value for the charity.

The event is taking place to encourage people to think about the value of their donations when they give them to shops etc, as items that don’t sell or are too old, broken or worthless have to be paid for to be got rid of by the charity eating into their profits which are supposed to pay for patient care. The items donated will be sold at the Sue Ryder Care shops around Peterborough.

Sue Ryder Care provides expert and compassionate care and support for people living with serious illnesses and conditions, as well as their families and loved ones. The charity  enables people to get the best from their lives, by helping putting back what conditions such as cancer, multiple sclerosis and strokes take away.

Sue Ryder Care Fundraiser Emma Long said: “it’s far more important to receive a small amount of good quality items that we can sell for more money rather than lots of items that have no value and therefore won’t raise funds for the charity.”

If you would like to donate to the BNI Synergy Donate Don’t Dump campaign or find out more about Sue Ryder Care or the BNI Synergy chapter contact Emma Long on 01733 330060 or email emma.long@suerydercare.org
