The premiership legends, that included Ray Parlour (former Arsenal player), Kerry Dixon (former Chelsea player) and Paul Parker (former Manchester United player), put up a good fight and scored one goal but couldn’t out manuevre Polish City Club, who scored two goals. Over £20,000 was raised through the charity event, with all money going direct to support the work of our sister organisations in southern Africa and eastern Europe.

Last year, 14 football teams took part in our first sell-out International Cup which was hosted by 1966 World cup winner Martin Peters MBE. See photos from last year's event here. The Polish City Club stormed to victory, and sealed their winning status by beating this team of football legends in the final game.

Captain of the winning Polish City Club, Bart Dujczynski, said, “What a night, it could not have gone better.  We won the whole thing and were undefeated, winning all games even against the Premiership All Stars!”

The 2008 Sue Ryder International Cup was hosted by 1966 World Cup Winner, Martin Peters MBE, and was supported by the wife of Petr Cech and Tamika Mkandawire, the only Malawian-born footballer competing professionally in the UK.

Football legend, Martin Peters MBE, said, “I was delighted to be asked to support the Sue Ryder International Cup - it was a great evening with all the excitement and drama of a premiership final.  As well as having the opportunity to play against legends of the great game, football fans helped raise vital funds for a very worthwhile cause.”

We gratefully acknowledge the support of our event sponsors; Coral, Toffs and Running Imp.
