Gala Coral GroupGala Coral

At the end of 2008 Gala Coral Group's employees voted to adopt Sue Ryder Care as their UK Charity Partner

The Gala Coral Group has over 160 bingo clubs, 28 UK casinos and 1,600 Coral shops as well as a growing e-commerce division. The Gala Coral Group understand the importance of contributing to their local communities and how business can make a real difference to people’s lives.

Employees have really got behind a number of different events and activities. One of the highlights has been a trek by 24 employees to Everest Base Camp where they played the " highest game of bingo" and raised over £100,000.  Other activities include exit collections at different race courses, a weekly online bingo game with 10% of the proceeds going to the charity, and lots and lots of different fundraising activities taking place at shops, bingo clubs and casinos across the country!

To date employees have raised over £1 million pounds and have committed to raising an additional £500,000 by the end of 2010.

We are extremely grateful to everyone at Gala Coral Group for their fantastic support.

John LewisJohn Lewis

We are delighted to say that in 2009 John Lewis Reading chose us for their Charity of the Year.  They have been engaged in numerous fundraising activities for us, including our Dragon Boat Race and our Ride for Ryder Bike Challenge.

They also organised a variety of in-house activities such as a Partners Bingo Night and a Quiz Night as well as sponsoring our Nettlebed Hospice promotional video and supporting our Lights of Love Service by donating some beautiful decorations.

A group of Partners also volunteered at the Hospice to help reorganise our basement area. This has enabled us to work more efficiently and everyone had a great day out, learning more about our work and the Hospice.

They have been incredibly successful at raising a tremendous amount in aid of Sue Ryder Care.

It's a pleasure to work with such a professional organisation and we've also made some great friends too.  We want to thank them for all their amazing support and dedication, which has helped the Hospice in a vast array of ways that have benefited all aspects of our operation.

We will be keeping in touch with everyone and look forward to continuing our partnership with them into the future.

Charity Partners

BAE Systems

Starting in May 2009 Sue Ryder Care was chosen as BAE Systems UK partner for its eighteen month global Charity Challenge. BAE Systems have around 32,900 staff working in the UK.

The partnership raised a brilliant £800,000 for Sue Ryder Care and BAE Systems employees volunteered over 7,000 hours of their time to the charity.

Thank you very much to everyone involved for their great support!

Perkins LogoPerkins

We are delighted that Perkins chose us as their charity partner! They have pledged to raise at least £40,000 in the first year of a two-year partnership through various events such as a Lands End to John O'Groats bike ride, Tash for Cash and an auction.

Volunteering has also been a key part of the partnership to date with fantastic gardening and maintenance projects taking place.  In January 2009 thirty volunteers spent two days to help to decorate the Exeter and Fryer wards at Stamford Hospital in preparation for the temporary occupation of the wards by staff and patients at Sue Ryder Care Thorpe Hall Hospice while essential maintenance work is undertaken on the lift and buildings at Thorpe Hall.

We are really grateful for their support.

Bradford & Bingley

"A core part of Bradford & Bingley's Corporate Social Responsibility programme is support for the communities in which we live and work.  It being our heartland, our presence in the West Yorkshire region, in particular the Aire Valley, is deep rooted and extensive.  We therefore ask our employees and customers to tell us which charities and community projects they would like us to support. The Sue Ryder Care Hospice at Manorlands has always proved to be very popular with our 1,200 head office staff in the Aire Valley and was chosen by them, through our staff survey, to be the charity of the year for 2006 and 2008. The hospice fundraisers have been extremely professional in all our dealings with them and clearly believe in a two way partnership between company and charity.  For these reasons, we will be continuing our support for them. The partnership has so far raised in almost £25,000 since 2004."
