The Great Pan Amnesty to raise vital funds for Sue Ryder Care

31 March 2008

Sue Ryder Care has teamed up with quality cookware specialists, The Professional Cookware Company, to raise vital funds for the healthcare charity through the sale of donated saucepans.

The Professional Cookware Company is set to launch its ‘Great Pan Amnesty’ on 31 March, which will urge the nation to exchange its old saucepans for a 10% discount of the company’s new ProCook collection of pan sets and separates.  All saucepans received from people across the country will then be donated to Sue Ryder Care to sell via its shops or to recycle.

Kay Barnes, Recycling Business Development Manager at Sue Ryder Care, is hoping that the campaign will raise awareness about the issues surrounding reuse.  Kay said, “The Great Pan Amnesty is a great way to encourage people not to throw items that can be re-used in the bin, but instead donate to our shops.  We will endeavour to sell as many of the donated saucepans through our shops, and the pans that we can’t sell, we will recycle.

“All unwanted saucepans received can be converted into vital funds to enable us to continue to provide care that liberates lives.”

Money raised from the sale of donated saucepans at Sue Ryder Care shops will help the charity care for more people living with conditions including multiple sclerosis, Parkinson’s disease, Huntington’s disease, cancer and stroke.

Joanna McKerlie, Marketing Manager at The Professional Cookware Company, said, “The Great Pan Amnesty encourages people to pop into their local Professional Cookware Company store with anything from one of granny’s old aluminium pans or auntie’s old fryer, to a whole set of worn out 1970’s saucepans and exchange it for sparkling new cookware from our ProCook ranges.”

Joanna added, “And, by bringing us your old saucepans, people are also helping to support the invaluable work of Sue Ryder Care, as all the old pans that we receive will be passed on to the charity’s shops for resale or recycling.”

People can drop their old saucepans to any of The Professional Cookware Company’s 38 stores across the country.  For further information on The Great Pan Amnesty call 08700 70 71 72 or visit www.cookware.co.uk.
