Have a flutter all in a good cause

15 March 2008

On Saturday 22 March people throughout Renfrewshire, Glasgow, Inverclyde and surrounding areas are being given the chance to have a flutter whilst making a real difference to people's lives.

The Howwood Inn will be holding a casino night, starting at 7pm, to raise money for Sue Ryder Care.  "Pink Cocktails" will be supplying three tables - Blackjack, Roulette and Poker so you can have a flutter in the knowledge that you will be helping Sue Ryder Care to support more people living with conditions such as Huntington's Disease, Acquired Brain Injury, Multiple Sclerosis and cancer.

Carol Anne McMahon, Area Fundraising Manager (West of Scotland) for Sue Ryder Care said:

"There are currently 29 million people who are affected by the life changing conditions that we care for, and our aim is to increase our hours of care from 4 million to 10 million over the next three years.  The money raised at the Casino Night will help us towards this goal and will enable us to put back the dignity, independence and confidence that are taken away by the conditions we care for.  It will be an action packed night out, so don't miss out - the fun begins at 7pm at the Howwood Inn."

As well as having the chance for a flutter, there will also be an auction with some amazing items up for grabs such as a ladies pampering day; paint-balling for 25 people; a signed Rangers ball; a tour of Ibrox for 4 people; a signed Celtic ball; a tour of the Celtic Visitor Centre for 4 people; a commissioned oil painting of your dog, and 3 half hour riding lessons to name but a few.  There will also be a prize raffle, so there will be plenty of fun for everyone to take part in.

On the night, regulars at the Howwood Inn, Sean Mulvey from Johnstone and Stuart Bell from Mid Hartfield, will be undertaking their own challenges in aid of Sue Ryder Care.  Sean has put himself forward for a sponsored leg wax - he will be getting both legs done!  Whilst Stuart will be losing his pony tail and having his head shaved!

Owner of the Howwood Inn, Karen Lafferty said: "Sue Ryder Care gives the kind of care that liberates people's lives by helping them to get the very best they can from their life in the time that they have.  We are delighted to be holding the casino night to raise money so they can help more people who need their support, and we will be offering a warm welcome to everyone who comes through our door.  I would also like to wish Sean and Stuart lots of luck in their challenges and look forward to seeing the end results!"
