Wee ones needed for wee walks

11 March 2008

Would your wee ones put on their trainers to take part in one of the Great Wee Scottish Walks for Sue Ryder Care?

There are Wee Walks taking place in Dumfries on 13 April; Inverness on 20 April; Aberdeen on 27 April; Dundee on 4 May; Glasgow on 11 May; Perth on 18 May; Edinburgh on 15 June and Galston on 3 August so lots to choose from.

By taking part your children will be raising money which will enable Sue Ryder Care to help more people living with life limiting conditions such as Multiple Sclerosis, Huntington's Disease, Stroke, acquired brain injury and cancer.

Carol Anne MacMahon, Area Fundraising Manager (West of Scotland) for Sue Ryder Care said: "There are currently 29 million people who are affected by the life changing conditions that we care for, and our aim is to increase our hours of care from 4million to 10million over the next three years.  The money raised from these walks will help us towards this goal and will enable us to put back the dignity, independence and confidence that are taken away by the conditions we care for.  Please help us help more people who need our care."

If you think your wee one would like to join in the fun please give Carol Anne a call on 01505 614586- she is waiting for your call.

The wee walks are popular family events and suitable for tots right through to teens.   Chaplin's Disco buses will be on hand at each event to create a buzz and offer entertainment and encouragement to walkers as well as energetic music to add to the fun, so it will be a fun day out for the whole family.

To enable as many children (16 years and under) and families to participate as possible (younger children are welcome to bring their parent, older siblings or guardian with them along the routes.  Walkers can choose to start the two mile walks at 11.00am, 12.00 noon, 1pm or 2pm.  Upon completion of the walks all entrants receive a goody bag and medal for their efforts.
